The board of Beale PLC is pleased to announce the appointment of Tony Brown as the group’s next Chief Executive. He will replace Allan Allkins, who will retire in April next year.

Tony Brown, 50, has been retail director of British Home Stores since 2001, and is responsible for store operations throughout the UK and Ireland. He was previously operations director of Somerfield Stores and a regional managing director of Asda Stores.

Mike Killingley, chairman, said:

"I am delighted that Tony Brown has decided to join Beales; he will bring a wealth of valuable retail and operational experience to the business. On behalf of the board, I also thank Allan Allkins for his contribution to the group over the past 5½ years, and wish him well in his forthcoming retirement. "

Tony Brown will join the board of Beale plc and become Chief Executive Officer with effect from 1 April 2008.
